Gander Mountain was founded in 1960 in Wilmot, Wisconsin, when we began as a catalog operation that over time grew into one of the largest outdoor catalogs in the United States. Gander Mountain opened its first retail store in Wisconsin, and has grown in the number of states and markets served. As of the end of 2008, the Company has well over 100 outdoor lifestyle stores in more than 20 states across the country.
In 2007 Gander Mountain acquired Overton’s, a leading catalog and Internet-based retailer of products and services for boating and water sports enthusiasts. The acquisition of Overton’s allows Gander Mountain to reenter direct marketing for the first time since 1995, and make its products and services available to those many customers around the world that are not able to visit one of our retail stores. Our long-term objectives are to build upon the Gander Mountain brand and become the leading multi-channel retailer in the outdoor lifestyle category.
